Campus Crime Report

Windward Community College is required by the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (1998)" to provide an annual security report to the community and to the US Department of Education. The campus crimes that are reported for the Clery Act include murder, sex offenses (forcible and non-forcible), robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft, manslaughter and arson. The College must also report "arrest or disciplinary referrals for liquor, drug, and weapons offenses" and hate crimes by classification.

The College is strongly committed to providing a safe and secure campus environment. The "Campus Crime Report" is part of our effort to forewarn you of certain crimes that have been committed on our campus as well as to promote an awareness of the available security services of the College. Students and visitors to the campus should be aware that preventive efforts on your part can effectively reduce the chances of you becoming a victim while on campus. (note: the Campus Crime Report is posted here and is also in the schedule of classes published for each semester). The report indicates that WCC has a low incidence of crime with burglary being the most reported crime.

The College accepts reports of criminal activity in confidence; particularly crimes of sexual violence allowing the victim to report through a third party and/or to remain anonymous. The College also requests that all campus counselors encourage their clients, when appropriate, to report criminal violations on a voluntary, confidential basis for inclusion in the annual disclosure of crime statistics. Any incident of criminal activity can also be reported to the Director of Administrative Services in Hale Alakai 120 or by calling 235-7405.

Reporting Crimes and Emergencies
Crimes and emergencies can be reported during the day and night by using the emergency phones in the central areas of Hale Alakai, Hale Imiloa, Hale Manaleo, Hale Na'auao, Hale No'eau and Hale Mana'opono. (emergency phones are not available in Hale Kuhina, Hale Palanakila and Hale Akoakoa). During the day the calls are routed to the campus switchboard for response and during the night (from 4:30 to 11:30 pm) the calls are direced to the secrurity guard on duty. The security guard is on duty 24 hours seven days a week.
